Welcome!
The Academy was created to provide an education for grades 9-12 and was eventually renamed the Foundation School. Knapp Hall was created to provide a training school for teachers.
In 1968, Foundation was closed and merged with the town’s independent school. The Knapp Hall building continues to be used for Education Studies for Berea College students.
In 2006, the Foundation school alumni celebrated their first reunion on the campus of Berea College where it all began. In 2008, the Academy and Knapp Hall alumni joined them in celebrating reunion. The Foundation, Academy and Knapp Hall alumni return back to campus every two years to get together, reminisce and celebrate their time at Berea College.
